French 9 and 10

Bienvenue à la classe!

I was very pleased to meet students today. We went through a quick overview of the course and expectations today, and students were given their course outlines. Full-day classes begin tomorrow!

N'oubliez pas - il y a un test demain! (see previous post for test outline)

This week, we've been doing review on our vocabulary words for unit 1, and continuing our study on passé composé verbs. We also did a bit of reading comprehesnion practice and today watched a video on Switzerland, since it is a French speaking country.

This week, we've been continuing going over passé compsé, and have looked at all the past participles of verbs. There is a quiz next week! We've also been doing lots reading comprehension of 'Bon Apetit' scripts, along with the corresponding video to elaborate our food/restaurant vocabulary.

Bienvenue de votre pose de printemps et de vos belles masques!

This week, we've been reviewing passé composé and working with vocabulary on Unit 1. Students presented their Projects 'Ma Chambre, Ma Vie' today, as it was due. We started discussing the French tradition Mardis Gras today in class and students worked on traditional masks.

Remember there is a Unit Test on Friday, April 12, 2019.
 Here is the Outline for the test: 
1)    Vocabulaire (matching vocabulary and definitions from vocab list)
2)    Association de couleurs (matching colors with their effects)
3) Adjectifs – BANGS Rules
                        -Agreements with singular/plural/feminine/masculin

Bienvenue de votre pose de printemps et merci de vos vidéos de nouvelles fantastiques!!!!

This week, we're reviewing passé composé and using the prepositions 'à/de'. Students were given a couple more classes to work on their Mardis Gras projects and we will present the projects Monday, April 15, 2019.  We've also been doing a bit more work with our restaurant unit vocabulary and reading comprehension. We did an activity with a French Cajun menu and today we looked at a video and script of a visit to a Parisian bakery.

J'ai excitée de voir vos projets finals!

This week, students have been working on their news video projects, working with the green screen and doing some final editing. We also did more practice with IR verbs and students wrote a quiz today.

This week, we've been working on practice with IR verbs and students wrote a quiz today. We've also been continuing working on our room projects, and doing some practice with room vocabulary through listening activities and reading comprehension.

Reminders:
We will be working on the room projects next week. They will be due Thursday April 4, 2019.

Bon travail avec votre français oral!

This week, we've been continuing or unit on cafés and restaurants. Students have now completed a couple of restaurant reviews in French. We've also done some reading comprehension work with French Yelp reviews, and have visited a couple of cafés do use our apply our vocabulary. We've also been practising our oral language skills by playing the game 'Headbands' in French. For grammar, we've been doing work with adjectives, possessive adjectives and IR verbs. I have edited the news video scripts and we are booked to start filming Monday!!!!

We've been working on various things over the last couple of weeks. Students did a fantastic job with the elementary students executing our winter carnival. Thank you so much for all your effort! We've been continuing with our unit on 'Ma Chambre Ma vie'. Students have started a final project to design a new room. It includes written, visual and oral components. We've also been doing more work with the vocabulary. For grammar, we've been reviewing IR verbs, regular adjectives and possessive adjectives.

Merci pour les belles cartes postales!

This week students have been working on conjugating RE verbs and continuing their work on the news cast video project. The scripts will be due next Tuesday. They also completed a postcard activity, applying some vocabualry from the carnival unit.

Merci pour les belles présentations aujourd'hui!

This week, students have been working on conjugating -RE verbs and have been wrapping up their carnival projects, which they started presenting today. We also reviewed 'school' vocabulary and started our first unit in the textbook: Ma Chambre, Ma Vie. Students had to complete a visual and written assignment describing their room. Today we completed some listening activities and played games.

This week, we've practiced 'ER' verbs and students wrote a quiz today. We've also been doing lots of conversation circles and completed the carnival booklet.

Students were assigned their first project to complete a news report video. We will contiue working on that this week.

This week, we are practicing 'ER' verbs in the present tense. Don't forget there is a quiz on Friday! Also, students are allowed to re-take their first quiz to improve their mark. We've also completed the carnival booklet.

Students have been given a project to put together a winter carnival. The project entails a written portion, a presentation, and an actual execution of the carnival. We will work on it this week in the library.

Bienvenue/Bonjour!

Welcome students and parents to my blog for French 11. I will post on this blog as frequently as possible so that students can keep track of current and upcoming assignments/quizzes.

Last week, we reviewed the following verbs in the present tense and students had a small quiz on Friday.
  • Faire, aller, être, avoir
  • 'Er' verbs 
We also did a scavenger hunt at Southside market and started a unit booklet on 'le Carnival de Québec', which we will be continuing this week. We are also spending a portion of class everyday doing basic conversations.
