English 9

Thank you for working so well today Grade 9's!

We started off with a few more notes on 'Parts of Speech' and some review notes for 'Elements of Short Stories'. After that, we read and discussed "Lamb to the Slaughter" in Sightlines 9. Also, we looked at the role of women in the 1950', as it relates to the context of the story and explains Mary Maloney's character. Students completed corresponding questions.

During the second half, we watched the Alfred Hitchcock version of "Lamb to the Slaughter" and students wrote a formal paragraph explaining which version of the story is most effective. We finished class by playing 'Mad Libs'.
