We started off class silent reading pages 45-65 in My Name is Seepeetza. We then did a bit of grammar editing and discussed the first set of questions for the book. Students then worked on a worksheet for pages 27-45, which was completed in class. I also showed some video clips of people sharing experiences in Residential Schools.
Afterr the break, we watched a government propaganda video that attempted to promote Residential Schools. We then reviewed poetic devices and terminology and students took notes. After that, students worked on a 'Black-out' poetry assignment.
