Things we did today:
- Silent reading
- Grammar (punctuation, apostrophes and quotations)
- Reviewed the plot for "Armageddon" (worksheets were marked and handed back)
- Finished going over 4 types of paragraphs (narrative, descriptive, expository and persuasive)
- Brainstormed ideas for a descriptive paragraph about Fall/Halloween (mind map: looks like, sounds like, smells like, feels like and tastes like)
- Started writing descriptive paragraphs (the topic can be about anything you want)
- Review sheet for the short story test was handed out
- Played a Jeopardy review game on the elements of short stories
- Talked about the structure and purpose of persuasive paragraphs (see worksheet)
- Started writing persuasive paragraphs

- The rough draft for your descriptive paragraph is due TOMORROW, Oct. 11, 2013 (you will have time to do peer editing and write a new copy tomorrow)

and females in our society, and then explore the use of stereotypes in “Think like a Weightlifter, Think Like a Woman” and/or “What Happened During
